Challenges
The challenge lay in addressing the complex and long-term healthcare needs of these survivors, many of whom required specialized care and support. Ensuring access to free HIV/AIDS treatment was paramount, given the high prevalence of HIV among genocide survivors. However, beyond HIV/AIDS care, there was a need to provide holistic healthcare services that addressed the myriad physical and mental health issues resulting from their traumatic experiences.
